Photographic diary – ‘Quaint town’ 2013

Photographic diary - 'Quaint town' 2013

Holiday in the South of France, Narbonne. I was really inspired by the rugged quaint streets which oozed character, this has a massive contrast with today’s architecture which is more minimalist and lacks a sense of history. How the buildings tower over the people makes you feel insignificant and small in relation to the buildings, this view creates really interesting shapes and patterns within the photo. I was also really inspired by the the materials used to build the houses, all local stone and wood which gave it a real organic feel. It is interesting to think that the landscape is brought out through the materials used, the buildings then blend in with the landscape.
